As 2019 draws to a close, the global auto industry may be nearing the end of business as we know it. Tomorrow’s cars will be radically different, the way we build and sell them is being transformed and the auto manufacturers, traditionally the main actors offering personal mobility to the people, are redefining their roles – and their business models.
Traditional automotive companies are transforming themselves to remain competitive in a marketplace that will see new players bringing new ideas to a more than 100-year-old industry. The year 2020 will not yield conclusive evidence whether they will be successful. But one thing is sure: It won’t ever again be business as usual.
